Maintaining your Bottled Water Cooler

Here are the simple steps you can follow to make sure your cooler is clean & ready to receive pure bottled water.  If you have any questions about these steps or about your water quality, please feel free to contact your Customer Service Center at 1-800-621-1885.

The suggested frequency for cleaning your cooler is every 3-6 months.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN:

Before you begin cleaning the reservoir of your water dispensing equipment, have the following suggested items handy.

  • Clean rubber gloves
  • Paper towels or other clean, dry cloths or towels
  • Clean dish type scrub brush with a long handle to help you reach the bottom of the reservoir
  • Plastic scrubbing pad.  Never use steel wool or other abrasives on your reservoir
  • Clean, boiling water

1..The most convenient time to clean your cooler is when a bottle is empty.  UNPLUG THE CORD IF THE COOLER IS ELECTRIC.  If there is an empty bottle on top of the cooler, carefully lift off the bottle and store it away.  If there is still water in the bottle, make sure you cap the bottle or cover the bottle top to keep dirt or debris from falling in the bottle.

2..At this point, you should be able to see into the reservoir.  If there is still water remaining in the cooler, drain it out through the spigot.

3..Pour boiling water into the cooler to fill the reservoir.   ALWAYS BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL THE BOILING WATER ON YOURSELF!

4..Let the cooler sit with the hot water in the reservoir for a minimum of three minutes.

5..Wearing clean rubber gloves, use the scrub brush to clean the inside of the reservoir with the hot water.  Re-wet the same brush, scrub the baffle and place it upside down in the reservoir.

6..Drain out the water by opening the cold and hot spigots.  Pour more boiling water into the cooler. Now, clean the spigot(s), body, handles and outlets with hot water.  Running the boiling water through the spigot(s) will help to clean the spigot and connecting hardware.  REMEMBER, ALWAYS BE CAREFUL NOT TO SPILL THE BOILING WATER ON YOURSELF!

7..Drain the water from the cooler through the spigot(s).

8..Now you can dry the outside of your cooler, if necessary, and place a full bottle of spring water on top.  Be sure to wipe off the top of the bottle with a clean, damp cloth first.  If you have followed these steps, you’ll now have a clean cooler.  And, you’ve taken an active role in preserving the quality of the equipment you use to dispense your pure, bottled water.

IMPORTANT!  If you have a hot water dispenser, remove air from the hot tank by opening the hot spigot (red handle) until water flows freely before you plug in your cooler.  Once water flows freely and air is removed you can plug your cooler into a grounded receptacle.  Allow at least twenty minutes for the water to heat back up and/or cool back down.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR DRIP TRAY

Your cooler’s drip tray is not a drain, but a basin to catch occasional spills.  It should be emptied and cleaned at least once a month.  To do this, carefully remove the drip tray from your cooler.  Clean it with a mild soap and water; then rinse.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF BOTTLES

The bottles are made of Eco-Sense BPA Free which is lightweight and shatterproof.  When changing bottles, we recommend you wash your hands, wipe away any dust off the top of the cooler and wipe the top and neck of the bottle with a clean, damp paper towel.

Store your bottles in a cool, clean place away from direct sunlight.  This is best for the bottles and your water.

Please don’t drop the bottles.  While they won’t shatter, they can develop hairline cracks which could cause them to leak.
